Tacoma Chemical Workers Union was organized in 1936 by employees of Pennsylvania Salt Manufacturing Company; in 1937 they were joined by workers at Hooker Chemical Corporation and Wypen Oil Company; in 1944 161 affiliated locals formed the International Chemical Workers Union and the Tacoma local was designated 110.
